The Sweet Story

Sweet Picks Creator, Stacey Monschein

Once Upon a Time

Armed with her Marketing degree and MBA, Pastry Chef, Stacey Monschein, traveled west to Napa, California to pursue her passion for baking and all things sweet. After 9 months in Wine Country, she graduated from the Culinary Institute of America – Greystone (one of the nation’s top culinary schools) with her degree in Baking and Pastry Arts.

Upon returning home to St. Louis in June 2000, she worked briefly at Bellerive Country Club as their interim Pastry Chef and at a high-end wedding cake bakery. All the while, Stacey researched and baked after hours building her Sweet Picks menu and customer base. It didn’t take long for her to begin concentrating solely on Sweet Picks Pastries and Catering.

Little by little, her customers requested savory selections as well. Soon, she and her team were catering parties with a full menu of appetizers, entrees and desserts. She also worked as a personal chef for some of St. Louis’ most prominent families. Here, she expanded her menu to include more exotic flavors and ingredients.

But her first love, sweets, and the popular cupcake trend led her to develop a line of Tiny Cupcakes. After months of testing, tasting and tweaking recipes, the line was ready for party menus. They were an instant hit!

Now, after ten years, the Sweet Picks kitchen has grown four times in size with a move to the trendy Tower Grove area. And she is excited to introduce all 10 Tiny Cupcakes (plus one seasonal selection) to St. Louis!

Known for her straightforward flavor combinations and attention to detail, Stacey is constantly searching for sources of inspiration for her culinary creations, whether they are in New York City, Chicago, Northern California or right here in St. Louis. That search for the latest culinary trends ensures that her passion continues to shine through in every product she makes: large….or tiny!
